EPISODE 1
SINGAPORE KICKSTARTS THE AMAZING RACE ASIA 2 Kicking off the second season of The Amazing Race Asia, the 10 teams, together with host Allan Wu assembled on the grounds of the Asian Civilizations Museum by the Singapore River.
YOU LIVE AND DIE BY YOUR CAB DRIVER?
Each team receives a different post card, which has an image of a famous Singapore icon. They are then required to locate one of 10 taxis parked within 300 meters of the Asian Civilizations Museum. Each taxi has a souvenir item on the dashboard that corresponds to the picture from each postcard.
Teams must match the correct taxi with their postcards, to get their next clue from the taxi driver. They are given $46 for this leg of the race.
"You can be as physically prepared, you can study all the maps, but in the end, this race is really all about luck," note Marc and Rovilson.
From the green outside the museum, several teams start to dash across the Cavenagh Bridge, towards The Fullerton Hotel, where some taxis can be spotted. However, they soon realize their mistake, as the clue indicates that the taxis are located near the museum. Dashing back, teams start a frantic search for their taxis.
A frustrated Edwin chastises Monica, as he has to carry not only his backpack, but hers as well. And despite the heavy weight he is lugging, it is Monica who drops the clues she is holding, causing their team to stop to pick up the random pieces of paper lying on the ground.
Pamela and Vanessa were the first to find their taxi. Teams must now proceed to Mount Faber, and locate the Merlion statue at the top of the hill for their next clue. As the various teams start to locate their taxis and proceed to Mount Faber, two teams were left behind as they still could not find their ride. Passing Edwin and Monica in their cab, Sophie points to Aurelia that Edwin looks tired.
"Poor Ed was carrying two bags. He looked so lost. Hopefully, they are lost," she says.
Standing by the road side without a taxi in sight, a visibly frustrated Edwin groans, "I'm dead already. I can't even move." |
